Happy Birthday, Bo!

Extra-special birthday wishes to a lady with an extra-special place in our hearts. The legendary beauty Bo Derek turns 52 today! Can you believe that?

Bo burst onto the scene with her performance in one of the more unbelievable romantic comedies in history - the aptly-named 10. In the film, the goofy, lovable Dudley Moore romances the otherworldly Bo on the beaches and in the cabanas of a luxurious Mexican resort. Now, we love Dudley (Arthur is one of our all time faves) and recognize that women love a funnyman and a musician, of which Mr. Moore was both, but there remains something unbelievably Woody Allenish about their on-screen coupling. But the ridiculous of it all didn't stop an entire generation of young men falling for her and plastering her image all over their bedroom walls.

We stayed up late to catch the awful but awesome Bolero - for many of us our first foray into the beautiful world of late night Skin-e-max fare. Sure, she has never been much of an actress (she's "won" three Golden Rasberries), but you don't stay up until 4 A.M. to watch Bolero for the acting.



In recent years, Bo hasn't done much acting save a role in Tommy Boy here and Malibu's Most Wanted there, but that doesn't mean she hasn't been active. She's been a long time equestrian enthusiast, wildlife activist and supporter of the Republican party. And recently she's been dating the (somewhat) younger John Corbett, the everyman stud from TV hit Northern Exposure and blockbuster indie film My Big Fat Greek Wedding.

So, happy birthday, Bo! We love you.
