Cougar Hunting in Aspen
Cougar shows are all the rage these days. And VH1 is getting in on the act, recently greenlighting a new reality show set in that wonderful land of money and snow cougars, Aspen, Colorado. Makes sense. VH1 and its sister (mother?) station MTV are now known more for "reality" shows like "Laguna Beach" and "The Hills" than they are for music videos. And Aspen is to delicious cougars as the Hollywood Hills are to vapid, fame-seeking celebutantes.

From the Aspen Daily News:

“The (yet unnamed show) will focus its cameras on the sexy women who live in the country’s most expensive zip code,” according to a VH1 press release, which notes that Aspen’s wealth and tourist base supplies locals with “endless opportunities and temptations.”

Details on the show are still sketchy, as public relations staff at Viacom-owned VH1 are tight-lipped about upcoming programming. The show would make its television debut in early 2010.

Up to two cast members are confirmed, and producers are reportedly still looking for talent. The show, produced by High Noon Productions, has been in the works at least since last fall.

The show will mine the professional and personal lives of its cast for drama. The press release refers to Aspen’s “dating puddle.” Prepare to know some of your neighbors perhaps a little more than you want to.

“Hookups, breakups and hangovers all happen in the same night. To make matters worse, gossip spreads like wildfire. If you party too hard or have an affair, everyone in town will know before sunrise and soon all of America will too,” the press release said.
