Daytime Cougar: Susan Lucci

Susan Lucci, 62, has been on "All My Children" for like forty years and she's still the hottest thing on that silly soap opera. It only makes sense that she find herself in a bit of a cougar storyline, given the cultural zeitgeist and the fact that she's been through just about every cast member the daytime soap's ever had (she's apparently just coming off her 10th husband). We are a bit surprised that the writers haven't gone to this particular well before. She has after all endured "a drug addiction, time in prison, a stolen embryo, a rape that resulted in a daughter, a stabbing of Husband No. 8 and many, many manipulations," according to The Huffington Post. It seems in there somewhere she might have dated a younger man. Guess not. Just shows how taboo this subject was once upon a time. Look, they went to the rape and murder storylines before having her shack up with a young stud. What does that tell you?

Lucci's character is entering into a love affair with Ryan Lavery, played by 39 year-old Cameron Mathison. But this won't be your average May-December romance. This is a soap folks. According to The Huffington Post and the actress herself:

"Think about this," Lucci said. "I slept with his father. He slept with my daughter. There has to be, at a certain point, (thoughts of) what does he know about me? What does he think he knows about me? As an actor, there's so much material to plumb into."

A lot of material indeed. Even Sophocles didn't put Oedipus through as much as the writer's of "All My Children" have to Erica Kane.
